This proves one again that Karin Slaughter is a gifted storyteller Gifted!!This book makes my point that all newly released books by this author must be pre-ordered then read immediately。 Tissues needed when we hear the voice of the veterinarian。

Karin Slaughter is one on my favorite authors, an auto buy。 This book, like all her others, is equally parts horrific, sad, and so very real。 Humanity is terrible and just when you think you can’t take another moment…Dr。 Jerry。 Anyways, if disturbing realism and Karin Slaughter is your thing, read this。

Wendy Jonson

Wow! Really good - but be warned, there is some horrific violence。 Definitely kept me on edge, couldn’t put it down。

WOWAs always。 Every book she writes, you can’t put down。 A must read!! You won’t put this one down。 Excellent!!

This is the first fiction book I read that incorporates Covid。 I thought it would really bug me but Slaughter did it very well。 Karin Slaughter is a master of this genre and this book and this book is no exception。 I will continue to read anything she writes。 Very good。

This, of course, is another stunner from Slaughter’s recent release。She did a fabulous job at incorporating our world as it is now with the ramifications of Covid still going on。 In her trademark style, she has completely flawed characters that have done some not-so-good deeds, but for good reason & you find yourself rooting for them anyway。 These characters are human & placed in horrible situations that have you questioning what you would do in their shoes。 These characters also suffer majorly This, of course, is another stunner from Slaughter’s recent release。She did a fabulous job at incorporating our world as it is now with the ramifications of Covid still going on。 In her trademark style, she has completely flawed characters that have done some not-so-good deeds, but for good reason & you find yourself rooting for them anyway。 These characters are human & placed in horrible situations that have you questioning what you would do in their shoes。 These characters also suffer majorly for their choices, developing addictive habits & not being able to carry on a normal life due to mistakes & childhood traumas。 Kathleen Early, as always, is the perfect narrator for this book as she always is for Slaughter’s books。 Her way to capture the voice of Slaughter’s words and perfectly give her characters their voice is stunning, making her one of my favorite narrators。 。。。more

Disturbing subject matter, and a little more gruesome that her other books, but an EXCELLENT book。 The main characters are so well fleshed out that you could recognize them on the street, and carry on a conversation。 I would probably read, and enjoy, a grocery list if Karin Slaughter wrote it。

False Witness is Karin Slaughter’s latest standalone novel that incorporates what’s been plaguing the world for the past year: COVID-19。 When Slaughter first announced False Witness, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn’t the next instalment in the Will Trent series。 However, after having finished the novel I’m delighted to report that False Witness is Slaughter at her best。False Witness reminds me of The Good Daughter by Slaughter。 Both focus on a tumultuous sisterly relationship and the l False Witness is Karin Slaughter’s latest standalone novel that incorporates what’s been plaguing the world for the past year: COVID-19。 When Slaughter first announced False Witness, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn’t the next instalment in the Will Trent series。 However, after having finished the novel I’m delighted to report that False Witness is Slaughter at her best。False Witness reminds me of The Good Daughter by Slaughter。 Both focus on a tumultuous sisterly relationship and the law rather than a police procedural。 Slaughter’s representation of family dynamics and relationships are second to none。 She has her finger on the pulse of these deeply emotional and complicated relationships。False Witness is the first novel I’ve read that incorporates COVID-19。 I was skeptical of this inclusion because it hits too close to home。 However, Slaughter didn’t make False Witness about COVID-19, instead it’s a backdrop grounding the story and bringing context to a lot of issues real people are facing because of the pandemic。This novel is one that you should go into without reading the synopsis。 I didn’t read the synopsis beforehand and I’m glad I didn’t。 All I’ll say is that the first two chapters are easily some of the best opening chapters I’ve ever read。 Slaughter sets the tone and pace of the novel in these two chapters, so if you didn’t like them you won’t enjoy the rest of the novel。Overall, False Witness will certainly be making it on my top books of 2021 list。 Though it’s a gruesome novel about rape and murder, at its heart is story about sisters, family, and length people go to protect them。 False Witness is one of those novels with an unrelenting pace that will make your jaw drop in the first two chapters and never allow you to recover。 。。。more

This was a thrilling ride to say the least。 I found myself so dragged into the happenings in everybody's lives that it almost felt wrong。 This book made me laugh, and cry, and curl up in an anxious puddle all in one。 Lee is as normal as normal gets。 She's a firecracker in court, way more sexually active than most people I know and she loves her teenage daughter despite the fact that her daughter is the typical surly teen who thinks moms are dumb and annoying。 Walter loves her。 Callie loves her。 This was a thrilling ride to say the least。 I found myself so dragged into the happenings in everybody's lives that it almost felt wrong。 This book made me laugh, and cry, and curl up in an anxious puddle all in one。 Lee is as normal as normal gets。 She's a firecracker in court, way more sexually active than most people I know and she loves her teenage daughter despite the fact that her daughter is the typical surly teen who thinks moms are dumb and annoying。 Walter loves her。 Callie loves her。 Everybody loves her, but she carries around so much guilt from a crime that happened 23 years ago that she struggles to grant herself that love。 Callie is small and quiet, and addicted to more drugs than I knew existed。 She is lonely, if you don't count anual visits from her sister and the guy she occasionally works for — Docter Gerry。 She's beautiful, and smart and has more health issues than an old pure-bread Labrador。 Everything revolves around these 2 sisters。 And Andrew: a serial rapist who does unspeakable things to his victims。 This story will not end how you expect it to end。 I can assure you of that much。 It will confuse you and rock your world and twist you in so many directions you won't know what's just around the corner。 Heck, where even is the corner? Oh 。。。 that was it。 Ok。 *Gets stomach in check*。 It's graphic。 It's sick, and twisted and remarkable。 。。。more

Pretty close to perfect。 Difficult to hear the graphic details at times because then I have to face the reality of its accuracy。 Listened to the audiobook, Kathleen Early always does wonderful!

I have never read a Karin Slaughter book that wasn't 5 stars for me。 She is, by far, my all-time favorite author。 I've been waiting awhile for this one to release and as expected, it did not disappoint。 I was a bit nervous because it's a stand-alone so I thought I might miss Sara and Will, but her way of writing got me hooked on this one。 It also felt kind of weird to be reading a book with the Covid-19 pandemic incorporated into it, but these are the times。 I absolutely love Karin Slaughter。 He I have never read a Karin Slaughter book that wasn't 5 stars for me。 She is, by far, my all-time favorite author。 I've been waiting awhile for this one to release and as expected, it did not disappoint。 I was a bit nervous because it's a stand-alone so I thought I might miss Sara and Will, but her way of writing got me hooked on this one。 It also felt kind of weird to be reading a book with the Covid-19 pandemic incorporated into it, but these are the times。 I absolutely love Karin Slaughter。 Her stories suck me in and her endings, while not always happy, leave me satisfied。 。。。more

This is my favorite Karin Slaughter book till date。 In some ways, it reminded me of The Kept Woman ( Will trent #8), as its my favorite book in the series。 Dark, Gritty and Emotional。 This book is not for the light hearted。 There are so many trigger warnings: abuse, drug use, pedophilia, violence, rape, Covid。 So readers beware。Leigh and Callie are sisters living a very different life。 Linda, a lawyer in a prestigious law firm while Callie is a junkie who lives as she pleases。 They both share a This is my favorite Karin Slaughter book till date。 In some ways, it reminded me of The Kept Woman ( Will trent #8), as its my favorite book in the series。 Dark, Gritty and Emotional。 This book is not for the light hearted。 There are so many trigger warnings: abuse, drug use, pedophilia, violence, rape, Covid。 So readers beware。Leigh and Callie are sisters living a very different life。 Linda, a lawyer in a prestigious law firm while Callie is a junkie who lives as she pleases。 They both share a dark secret。 When a man from their past, emerges suddenly to threaten their whole existence, they have stick together to face the traumas of their past。 This is a 400 page book and there are lot of details about legal system, abuse and drugs。 As Known, Karin Slaughter is known for her vivid descriptions。 There are parts in this book, where I had to stop, take a breather and continue reading。 This is not an easy book to read。Alternating between the views of Leigh and Callie, the plot is carefully laid to keep enough tension throughout the book。 Personally, I think the strength of this book lies in its characters。 Though the relationship between Leigh and Callie forms the central plot , each and every other characters in the book are meticulously crafted。 Walter and Dr。 Jerry are some of the best supporting characters I have read。 I felt invested in these characters so much they all felt real。 In some parts, I could feel their emotions and pain。 I listened to the audiobook version of this book and Kathleen Early is a brilliant narrator。 She brought all these characters to life。 As I mentioned before, this is not for everyone。 Some may find this book long, some may find it difficult to read。 To me, its a book I will remember。5 Stars !。 。。。more

The worst thing about a Karin Slaughter thriller is finishing and waiting for the next one! I especially love her stand alone books。 This is set in the time of Covid and rings generally true, but Covid is not the main character, thank goodness。

The very start of the book had me, but after the prologue I thought I would never get through this book。 It had some slow parts and all the talking about covid was about to drive me insane。 I read fiction to get away from the issues of this world。 After about the 3rd or 4th chapter, it starting grabbing me in again, but still too much about covid!

I had to skip some of the early scenes with Callie。。。 they were too sad to read。 But the entire book was horrific and captivating and I feel like I'm a less judgmental person after reading it。 Some twists were obvious, while others were shocks。 I did wish there wasn't so much mention of covid, only because I would've like an escape。 But it had its purpose and I respect that。 I had to skip some of the early scenes with Callie。。。 they were too sad to read。 But the entire book was horrific and captivating and I feel like I'm a less judgmental person after reading it。 Some twists were obvious, while others were shocks。 I did wish there wasn't so much mention of covid, only because I would've like an escape。 But it had its purpose and I respect that。 。。。more

Everything about it was great。 The plot was full of suspense and kept moving right along。 The details about addiction were spot-on both from the addict's perspective as well as their loved ones。 Right at the beginning the pandemic was mentioned and I was really not too thrilled about that。 It really just added a few details and didn't take anything away from the story。 Fantastic read!
